HUNGARY'S SEAR BLISS RETURN WITH THEIR SIXTH ALBUM AND FIRST FOR CANDLELIGHT. SEAR BLISS A HAVE VERY DISTINCT TAKE ON THE ART OF BLACK METAL, A MORE EPIC AND DRAMATIC TAKE THAT HELPS SET THEM APART FROM THOSE CONTENT TO APE THE NORWEGIAN SOUND.
’The Arcane Odyssey’ is Sear Bliss’ sixth full-length album and the first one at Candlelight. It is definitely an important milestone in the band’s career. Recorded in Hungary’s most professional studio (Aquarium), with the help of well-known Hungarian producer Viktor Scheer the band never sounded so powerful before. The Arcane Odyssey contains eight extreme/black metal hymns. The brass instruments are more prominent on this release than on any of its predecessors. The enchanting sound of trombones, trumpets and euphoniums give an extra touch to the extreme black metal sound of the band, thus creating an unique mixture of classical music and extreme metal. Arcane Odyssey is the most complete release of the band, a very intense album with complex songs. It is surely a highlight in today’s quiet black metal scene. The cover artwork was once again painted by Jozsef Tari, a highly talented artist who already made artworks for bands like Venom for example. The artwork shows one of the most impressive Hungarian legends in ancient Hungarian mythology, the saga of the ’Hadak Utja’ (The Road Of The Warriors). Though The Arcane Odyssey is not a concept album yet two of the songs refer closely to this legend.
