This is certainly one of the greatest albums Northern Silence has had the pleasure to release thus far. Given that it is the debut of a previously unknown newcomer band it is even more breathtaking what has been accomplished here, and in every regard – excellent musicianship is shown all throughout the six songs, and the songwriting itself is absolutely outstanding; the concept, while not unique, is nevertheless uncommon enough for a Black Metal act and goes beyond the generic Satan worship of most bands who endeavor to preach about the occult. “Spiritus/Sulphur” marks only the beginning of the tale, a story built on Hermetic lore, occultism and mysticism. It shows the design of an intelligent and informed creator, and is expressed by lyrics that are indeed lyrical and have been wrought perfectly into the gorgeous music. This album is sure to become one of many people’s top faves of 2017.
