2008 is a very special year in the history of Swiss metal institution CATARACT. Not only are the band members celebrating their tenth year of existence, they are also launching their highly anticipated fifth album. The title of the record, which follows 2006’s successful “Kingdom”, stands out like a sore thumb, defiant of any and all modern trends: “Cataract”. This album is solid proof of what the name has stood for since 1998: massive riffs in between thrash, death and core, straight and in your face! With an almost completely renewed line-up, the band sounds heavier, more varied and more melodic than ever, hitting the listener where it hurts the most! The experience accumulated through years of pioneering the European scene shows in their brutal riffs, their hateful vocals and crushing rhythms. And that is exactly what is expected by their huge fan base, which thanks to constant tours (Hell On Earth, X-Mas Festivals, supporting AMON AMARTH) and festival gigs (Pressure Fest, With Full Force, Wacken, Hellfest, Summer Breeze, etc.) is nowadays comprised almost equally of metallers and hardcore fans. Both fan groups will certainly enjoy “Cataract” to the fullest, getting their earwax removed by the monstrous sound courtesy of Antfarm Studios (Denmark) and destroying their furniture in a furious mosh. Because Switzerland not only stands for cheese, chocolate, watches and dodgy bank accounts, but most importantly… BRUTALITY! The perfect soundtrack to this massacre is “Cataract”, which will also be available as a limited edition including a bonus CD (featuring cover versions of the band’s heroes) and a Special Metal Blade Vinyl Fan Edition (only 500 hand numbered copies)!
