Originally formed as a project by Mats Kurth and Georgios Grigoriadis in 1999, CORONATUS soon released the single "Von Engeln Nur" (2001) and played first gigs in 2003. A year later, they presented themselves live as a double female-fronted metal band for the first time.
They started recording the debut album in 2006 and signed with Massacre Records in 2007 which led to the release of the debut "Lux Noctis" in the same year. The albums "Porta Obscura" (2008), "Fabula Magna" (2009) and "Terra Incognita" (2011) followed.
After successful appearances at international festivals, as support of Within Temptation in Belgium and a tour with Haggard in 2011, CORONATUS release their fifth album "Recreatio Carminis" in 2013, for the first time featuring three female vocalists.
CORONATUS anno 2014
Now, almost a year after the release of "Recreatio Carminis", CORONATUS are back with 9 brand new and powerful songs! The album title, "Cantus Lucidus", says it all, because "Lucidus" means something like shining/full of light/clear and Cantus" can roughly be translated to chants/music.
