DESCRIPTION
NOISE TRADE COMPANY is a duo born in 2008 by the joint-venture of Gianluca Becuzzi (ex-LIMBO, ex-PANKOW, KINETIX, etc.) and Chiara Migliorini. The duo is aided by other three brilliant musicians of the Italian underground scene: Paolo Cillerai, Valerio Cosi and Fabio Orsi. NTC’s immediate and essential musical style clearly takes its inspiration from the music which marked the passage between late 70’s and early 80’s: early industrial (today better known as Old School Industrial), technopop (today denoted as minimal synth and synthpop), post punk, no wave and the early works of artists like Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire, Clock DVA, The Normal, Fad Gadget, The Human League/The Future/British Electric Foundation, Wire, Joy Division, Tuxedomoon, Suicide, DNA, Mars, Lydia Lunch, Glenn Branca, etc… Despite the obvious tribute to these models, NTC does not nostalgically repeat their style; on the contrary, NTC succeds in the difficult enterprise of making the long ago sound lively and fresh again. Vintage Beat Boxes beat time synchronizing with unceasing fuzz and bass guitar riffs, a dense and sexy body made of white heat, electricity and rust. Vocals scratch and caress, emerge and disappear like synthetic videodrome-generated ectoplasm. Minimal text, maximal volume. Ballardian Crashes and Burroghsian Cut Ups melted like plastic into a single and unique nosiy Art Punk formula. Sense of historical perspective and disenchanted irony, together with experience, taste and compositional inspiration are the instruments NTC skilfully uses to reach its aesthetic aim. The project’s meaning, strength and identity consist exactly in the right balance between past and present, memory and topicality, idea and form, rationalism and passion, generosity and cynicism.
