Gothenburg band Devation and their superb debut album "Scorn Through an Absent Scene" bring the melodic death metal sound to a whole new level. With a focus on balancing melodies with darker tones, every song is a unique story in itself - but still collaborates with the whole album to create a near-spiritual journey through time and space.
The band came into existence in 2009 when guitarists Richard Wiberg (guitar-tech in-tour for Sabaton and Evergrey) and Joakim Karlberg developed a sound that found a perfect balance between harmony, rhythm and groove. Devation played their debut show at the famous Sticky Fingers venue in Gothenburg, and soon after entered the studio to record their first EP, Artifacts. With more outstanding material written, Devation entered the studio once more to record their debut album, Scorn Through an Absent Scene.
