IUBAR from small town Gävle in the North of Sweden have created a musical hybrid of their own. The band was founded by guitarist Steven Kautzky Andersson and the eccentric singer Victor Björklund. Their song writing brings a unique combination of ethereal pop melodies embedded in a sound of traditional Swedish and Oriental folk tones, electrified with rock n’ roll. Keyboard player Ove Andersson adds the final piece to the Iubar puzzle, upon which some of the finest musicians of the North set their tones. The band’s founder Steven Kautzky Andersson has previously released solo albums under the name GIPSY POWER, and was nominated for a Swedish Grammy. He was ranked one of the world’s top ten guitar players in Japan and has also studied the Arabic string instrument Tar under one of the great masters, Ali Shakouri from Iran. IUBAR did their live debut at the Hayal Kahvesi Club in Istanbul late 2003 and were deeply influenced by collaborations with local artists and painters they encountered during their stay. IUBAR’s debut album Invitation II Dig is a ten track psychedelic trip, picking up progressive heartbeats, swirling fine melodies of indie rock and the oriental sparkling energy of from the early 70-ies. Musical references in the press covers U2, the Doors, Led Zeppelin, Kula Shaker, Placebo, King’s X and Coldplay.
