When Brian Douglas Wilson – born June 20, 1942 – the American musician, songwriter, singer and record producer, who co-founded the Beach Boys and received widespread recognition as one of the most innovative and significant musical figures of his era, passed away on June 11th 2025, the music world lost one of its very real iconic figures and elder statesmen. Indeed, his equals in the industry are now limited to perhaps just Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Jagger and Richards, but very few others.
Wilson’s body of work was quite staggering, writing superb hit after hit single and album after album for the Beach Boys, although it was not until 1988 that he put out his first solo album, after which he produced several more solo efforts before his death.
