Recorded at New York’s Electric Lady Studios on 19 November 1974 and broadcast live on WQIV-FM, this performance marked the opening night of Camel’s first North American tour. Promoting their second album Mirage, the four piece—Andrew Latimer, Peter Bardens, Doug Ferguson, and Andy Ward—deliver an assured set built around the album’s extended suites. The Tolkien-inspired “Nimrodel / Procession / White Rider” and the twelve-minute “Lady Fantasy” demonstrate why Camel occupied a distinctive place in progressive rock: melodic where their peers were abrasive, spacious where others were dense.
