A Life Less Plagued, originally released in 2001, is a seminal release in modern hardcore by the California straight-edge band CARRY ON. Recorded at GodCity Studio by CONVERGE's Kurt Ballou and clocking in at just under 20 minutes across 12 tracks, the album delivers unrelenting intensity, frantic tempos, and cathartic vocals. The album not only became a blueprint for the 2000’s West Coast hardcore movement, but was also the first proper full-length album put out by Bridge Nine Records.
CARRY ON didn't live on much longer after their full-length album debut, but it became a definitive release for the label (and California hardcore) as each member went on to form the next wave of West Coast hardcore bands (such as TERROR, PIECE BY PIECE, BETRAYED, INTERNAL AFFAIRS, and many more). Long out of press by the album's 10th anniversary, its legacy was further set in stone with a 2011 re-issue. Now CARRY ON is back playing a handful of shows over the 2026 summer and we've got another reissue on deck. This is a record frequently cited by hardcore veterans and modern musicians as the absolute mold for 2000’s American hardcore, so be sure to grab it if you don't have one in your collection yet.
