This debut album, a rare piece of 'Neue Deutsche Todeskunst' (as much as the band hates this label, it is nonetheless formative), featuring the scene hits 'Kain Und Abel' and the smash hit 'Gottes Tod', was withdrawn from release in 2004 and has since only been available through various collectors' fairs.
'Das Ich' skillfully combines electronic, symphonic, and early industrial elements into an explosive cocktail that, unlike the often cliché-ridden German-language music scene, is unparalleled. 'Das Ich' quickly established themselves as a major force and became synonymous with experimental and innovative electronic music. Hailed as the catalyst for a new genre in the post-wave, Kraftwerk, and Neubauten era, they successfully topped the charts of the independent music scene. Europe-wide tours solidified the position of 'Das Ich', who soon gained a reputation as 'apocalyptic eccentrics', as their concerts were a malevolent, bone-shaking spectacle.
