TRACK LIST

In the closing years of the 1970s, Pink Floyd stood at the height of their creative and commercial powers, following a series of landmark releases that defined an era of progressive rock. Amid this success, David Gilmour began to establish a distinct solo identity, issuing his self-titled debut album in 1978. That record revealed a more personal and introspective side of his songwriting, hinting at a parallel artistic path that would continue to evolve alongside his work with Floyd.
In 1984, Gilmour released his second solo effort, About Face, marking a confident step forward. Issued on 5 March 1984, the album was met with strong critical acclaim, praised for its melodic strength, polished production and Gilmour’s unmistakably expressive guitar work. It showcased a more direct, song-focused approach, while retaining the emotional depth and musical sophistication that had become his hallmark.
To support the album, Gilmour embarked on the ‘About Face Tour’, bringing his new material to audiences across Europe and North America. The tour highlighted his ability to command the stage as a solo artist, backed by a tight and versatile band. Among the many performances, one stood above the rest: the concert at Hammersmith Odeon, London, on 30 April 1984. This exceptional show was not only captured for posterity but also recorded and broadcast by the BBC, securing its place in rock history.
