Japanese bass sensation and LOVEBITES bassist Fami returns with Hakoniwa, her first solo release in five years and first since joining the internationally acclaimed Japanese metal band. Fami originally found fame while still in high school through her viral bass performance videos, building an audience of around 700,000 YouTube subscribers and more than 90 million views worldwide.
Meaning “Miniature Garden”, Hakoniwa explores another side of Fami beyond LOVEBITES, drawing on her roots in technical J-rock and pop with influences from the Vocaloid scene. Fami handles bass and vocals throughout and wrote and composed four of the EP’s five tracks, showcasing her talents as a bassist, vocalist and songwriter.
The EP also features “Slap Seijin”, written especially for Fami by popular Vocaloid producer NayutalieN. The collaboration brings their connection full circle after Fami’s high-school bass cover of NayutalieN’s “Alien Alien”became one of her breakthrough videos, now exceeding 11.9 million views.
