Fantome is the new project by Hanin Elias (ex Atari Teenage Riot and founder of Fatal Recordings) and Marcel Zürcher (Die Krupps) - the debut album is produced by the renown Paul Kendall and as well by David Husser. The artwork is stickered and the CD has a playtime of close to 60 minutes and comes in digipak including a 16 page booklet with the lyrics! You might think they would come up with a hard industrial sounding album, but you are wrong. The sound of Fantome is beautiful pop-rock epic at its best. It illustrates the story of a woman that is in touch with her emotions and scars. She gets up after every knock down and keeps on walking into the rising sunshine. The single "Love" is not just a beautiful track that stays with you and keeps your soul warm - it's a statement. The whole album sound is produced pitch-perfect by David Husser and Paul Kendall (Depeche Mode, Recoil, etc). "It all makes sense" is an outstanding Hitalbum. Every Song is performed with so much conviction and emotion that it will grab you right away. Just listen to "It All makes sense" and it will all make sense. Mostly recorded with analogue instruments (guitar, bass, drums and piano) by multi-instrumentalist Marcel Zürcher and with Hanin Elias showcasing melancholic dreamy melodies and authentic lyrics, the whole album has a cozy sound that creates intimacy. Influences such as Leonard Cohen appear and reminiscences to My Bloody Valentine linger in most of the album. This Album presents Elias' vocals in unexpected ways; the mix of the duo creates a sound that is strong, dreamy and forceful. There might not be anything out there you can compare Fantome with.
