For the first time as a full band Glittertind is ready to release their album “Djevelsvart “(Devil’s Black).
The music mixes elements from hard rock and folk, and a unique dimension is added through producer and band member Geirmund Simonsen’s influences from movie soundtracks.
The album is a huge studio production inspired by different genres and all elements add to a whole new original expression.
Part of the inspiration for the lyrical concept arrives from poets who by the end of the 19th century tried to say something about what it means to be a modern human being.
They had to relate to the fact that religion lost its explanational power concerning man and the world, the alienation in the factory work, and the growth of the big cities.
From being members of communities with close ties, they now found themselves to be aliens among aliens.
The individual has been gradually more and more left to itself to carry the responsibility to answer the question: “Who am I?”.
With ”Djevelsvart”, the darkest Glittertind album so far, the band hope listeners can achieve a sense of connection with humanity in the suffering.
Maybe we are not so lonely in this suffering as we sometimes may think?
The new album focuses on the break with these great narratives of collectivity and the rise of individualism in the end of the 19th century.
