Re-release of the band’s extremely successful second studio album from 1998. New digipak edition includes 2 bonus tracks and is limited to 1000 copies. Digitally remastered using 24-Bit process. The Kovenant is certainly one of the most intriguing bands ever to emerge on the Scandinavian metal scene. Throughout their career they went through name, line-up and style changes, constantly developing their musical formula in every possible way. The exclusive re-release of Kovenant’s amazing album – Nexus Polaris – showcase a group that is not afraid to experiment with different genres, taking their music far beyond black and industrial metal boundaries… The group was originally formed in 1993 in Bergen, Norway by vocalist/bassist Nagash (known from such bands as Dimmu Borgir, Troll and Crome Division) and guitarist Blackheart (also played in Troll). They called their mutual project The Covenant and released two demos, one in 1994 and the other a year later. 1995 also brought the duo’s debut LP – In Times Before the Light – filled with top-notch atmospheric black metal. The album was officially released on October 7th, 1996, via a small British record label Mordgrimm Records and received a lot of acclaim on the local scene. Nagash and Blackheart decided to expand the project further and recruited additional musicians: Hellhamer (known mostly from Mayhem, Dimmu Borgir and Arcturus) on drums, Astennu (from Dimmu Borgir and Carpe Tenebrum) on second guitar and Sverd (worked with Arcturus, Satyricon and Emperor) on keyboards. The last addition was female vocalist Sarah Jezebel Deva, known from working with such groups as Therion, The Gathering and Cradle of Filth. With this extremely strong line-up in place, the Covenant collective began working on the follow-up album “Nexus Polaris”…
