Jon Oliva attained cult status over 20 years ago, as the charismatic singer, songwriter and piano player of his band Savatage, releasing classics like “Hall Of The Mountain King”, “Gutter Ballet” and “Streets”, just to name a few. In addition he had sales in the millions with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO), especially in the USA where the project tours constantly and steady with enormous success until this day. But Jon also wanted to continue with the music that people love since discovering Savatage´s music for the first time, in fact Jon Oliva´s music! And he did in excellent fashion: after founding JON OLIVA`S PAIN the first album “Tage Mahal” was released on Steamhammer/SPV in 2004 and received great critical acclaim. The band toured extensively and played on several big festivals. But it wasn’t really until 2006, when JON OLIVA`S PAIN signed to AFM Records, that the goals and expectations increased dramatically. And the collaboration was very successful right from the start, securing a #86 in the official German album charts for “Maniacal Renderings”. Fans and critics who love Jon´s charismatic, unique style and who had followed his career for many years hailed the album as one of his best ever, putting it on the same level as even great Savatage all-time classics “Gutter Ballet” and “Streets”. And, in fact, so obvious was it that this kind of bombastic Rock & Metal classic can only be delivered now by JON OLIVA´S PAIN that Jon himself actually then came out and stated in early 2008 that there now will be no reunion with Savatage at this point or at any point in the future.
