In the wake of High Roller Records releasing Mexican speed-thrashers Phantom’s second album “Tyrants of Wrath” in spring 2025, the band has also remastered their most recent release, the four-track EP “Transylvanian Nightmare”, which is now published via the label as well.
Phantom were founded in 2021 in Guadalajara. After three demos and a four-way-split album, the quartet released their debut full-length “Handed to Execution” in 2023, which was followed one year later by “Transylvanian Nightmare”. Singer/guitarist J.C. García explains: “We wanted a tighter sound for this EP and to really make it feel like a punch to the face. I think it’s a good bridge between the first and second album.”
With its standout title track, for which the band also made a music video with a B-movie feel reminiscent of Candlemass’ early clips, “Transylvanian Nightmare” was a landmark release for the band and remains a latter-day genre classic. “It helped us grow a lot as a band in every way, a short EP with a great impact on how we work, how we play, and how people perceive us.”
Thanks to Patrick W. Engel’s remastering, “this edition aims to bring absolute killer quality to the songs, not to forget bigger exposure and a second breath of freshness.” Phantom will tour Europe in September/October 2025 with Brazil’s Evilcult. You’ll better be there…
