Since 2016 SAVAGE BEAT have been putting themselves on the map with their unique style of self-proclaimed ‘street boogie’: a mix of late 70’s punk rock, high energy rock ‘n roll and Oi influences.
On the new full length “BRIGHT LIGHTS, TALL SHADOWS” they’re not changing the winning formula. Big riffs and fist-pumping choruses can be heard on every track. The subject matter ranges from celebrating the raw power and force of rock ‘n roll (“CUT TO THE CHASE”, “THREE CHORD DISCIPLE”) to darker introspective territory (“KILLER INSIDE”, “BRIGHT LIGHTS, TALL SHADOWS”) and trying to get by in a society that seems to not be changing for the better (“WORSE FOR WEAR”, “TOMORROW MIGHT NEVER COME”). On the instrumental introduction that kicks off the album (“STREET BOOGIE CONFIDENTIAL”) we can hear these three chord disciples paying homage to the rebellious history of their hometown and “UNHINGED”, on the other hand, is a great example of why the band have in the past been called ‘the Amsterdam ambassadors of high energy rock n roll.
Fans of bands like SLAUGHTER & THE DOGS, THE HELLACOPTERS or DEAD BOYS can equally find their fix here.
SAVAGE BEAT have been around the block a few times and they wear their battle scars proudly on their sleeves on this album, sounding more confident and more determined than ever to preach their three chord gospel all over the world.
