2011 BROADCAST RECORDING FROM THE FIRST TIME THE BIG 4 PLAYED ON THE SAME STAGE IN SWEDEN
Formed in 1981 by guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, drummer Dave Lombardo, and bassist/vocalist Tom Araya, Slayer's fast and aggressive musical style made them one of the founding "big four" bands of thrash metal, alongside Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax. In 2010 and 2011, Slayer, alongside their big 4 colleagues, played a series of events billed as the Big 4 Festivals, initially across Europe in 2010, then in 2011 a couple of dates in the USA, plus more European shows. On 3rd July 2011, they all performed in Gothenburg, Sweden, at the city’s famed Ullevi Stadium, and Slayer’s performance that day was hailed as the finest set of the festival. The whole affair was also broadcast on TV by Swedish public television broadcaster Sveriges. This new LP features in full Slayer’s superb show on that dynamic and electric day, the first time the BIG 4 had ever shared a stage together in Sweden!
