The UK's Wyrdstæf invoke the spirit of the Palaeolithic and Mesolithic ages, where our distant ancestors roamed a world of ice and natural wonder, hunter-gatherers amongst the incredible megafauna. An existence of brutal harshness in an untarnished but unforgiving world. Through a hypnotic and transportative elixir of layered throat singing, distorted guitars, field recordings and ritualistic chants they seek to reach back into the distant past, not in an act of mimicry, but in an attempt to connect with the essence of a time that exists in the deepest waters of cultural memory and the collective unconscious. Having appeared on national television, performing Egil's Saga, an Icelandic family saga about the life of 10th century warrior-poet and farmer, Egil Skallagrimsson, on the Channel 4 programme Britain's Most Historic Towns, the band self-released their debut EP, Great Migrations, in 2021 - a meditation upon ancestral movement and extinction. Now, having signed to Apocalyptic Witchcraft in the Autumn of 2025, Wyrdstæf are ready to unveil their first full length album, the incredible journey that is Primordial Bloodlines!
