With their mix of spinning motorik rhythms, shimmering synths and psychedelic to noisy guitars, ZEMENT create an eclectic mix of neo-krautrock, psychedelic, noise rock and EDM. Philipp Hager (guitar, synthesizer, drum machine, effects, flute) and Christian Büdel (drums, percussion) have been playing together in this combination as ZEMENT since 2014 and have both been active in various musical contexts for many years. After two years of extensive touring, their debut album "Werk" was released in fall 2016. This was followed two years later by "Klinker", an album that focused even more on electronic patterns and motoric rhythms and placed the idea of mechanical creation and construction in the studio more in the foreground. After several tapes released since then, "Rohstoff" is now the duo's third album. Rohstoff" is an album that skillfully combines and expands the various facets of the duo's previous work. The duo remains true to the thematic treatment of their name, but expands their sound to include more and more facets from other genres of electronic music. The synthesizers take up more space than before, drum computers are used and machine vocals are heard for the first time. There are also echoes of early Detroit techno and house, as well as excursions into the realms of free jazz and saxophone improvisations.
