Lars, (Moon)Pedro, and Fredrik of The Demonstration Tapes previously played together in the band Sister Sonny. A few years ago, they realized that they were each writing songs centered around American states. That sparked the idea to write and release one song for every U.S. state. With the upcoming anniversary of American independence just a few years off, they had a plan. The debut album First Amendment was released in 2025, featuring songs about Texas, New York, Oklahoma, and more—14 tracks covering 14 states. Now, in the 2026 anniversary year, comes the next installment. After warming up through the summer with the singles The New Jersey Turnpike, Clean Cut Connecticut, and New Mexico Loosin', the album SECOND AMENDMENT drops on vinyl and streaming platforms.
