"Bifrost" is Elite's second album, released in 2006. Named after the burning rainbow bridge of Norse mythology that connects Midgard and Asgard, the album musically bridges precisely that gap: away from the purely raw sound of their debut, towards a more atmospheric and technically sophisticated interpretation of black metal. The album solidified the band's reputation as one of the most authentic voices in the Norwegian underground.
On "Bifrost," Elite combine their typical Norse fury with sophisticated melodies and a significantly more epic feel. The production is more powerful compared to its predecessor, without losing the necessary chill. Alongside aggressive black metal attacks, there are more mid-tempo passages and folky, heroic undertones, reminiscent of the golden era of Enslaved or Kampfar.
