Formed in a 6 square meter rehearsal space in central Oslo somewhere around 2005, when two brothers with a strange sense of humour met a tattooed and evil black metal drummer with a tiny voice and a cute smile, Sarpedon has existed in the Norwegian underground for almost a decade.
The band gigged extensively for several years (with Communic, Leprous, and Crest of Darkness, among others), and released two demos – with especially "Demo 2008" generating very good reviews, leading to the band being invited to feature on BW&BK’s legendary "KnuckleTracks" sampler.
The band then began working on their debut album with legendary producer Borge Finstad (Mayhem, Testament, Borknagar).
With drummer Carl Engstrom (the evil one with the cute smile, remember?) then enjoying successful spells with Troll, Astaroth, and Endezzma, singer Eirik P. Krokfjord performing at Norway’s biggest stages as one of the country’s top talents in classical singing, and guitarist and songwriter Torgeir P. Krokfjord enjoying a career in journalism, the whole thing stalled.
However, good things (and Sarpedon albums) come to those who wait.
The band never gave up (although it was pretty darn close, mind), and began rehearsing again in 2012-2013.
After recording new vocal and keyboard tracks, the album was mixed by Borge Finstad and mastered by Peter in de Betou at Tailor Maid in Stockholm (Dimmu Borgir, Emperor, Seventh Wonder).
A deal was agreed with Inverse Records not too long after, and finally; it is with great pleasure we can announce the long overdue release of "Anomic Nation".
