Hard to believe - Gimp Fist have been stalwarts of the UK's Oi! scene for more than 21 years now. The three-piece have established themselves as one of the UK's most respected street-punk bands, with a unique style of songwriting and sound, being as popular in Europe as they are in the UK. And their street-punk anthems fill the 3,000-capacity Empress Ballroom at Rebellion Festival in Blackpool every year. Originally from Bishop Auckland, County Durham, starting in 2005, the band has 11 albums, half a dozen singles, and three EPs on its list. They may face challenges in gaining recognition from the London-centric music press but have found a strong following all over Europe and are best known to the Rebellion festival audience, where they've performed annually since their very beginnings. Two years after last full-length "Losing Streak", now 12th album "Take the Power Back", produced by Jamie Wilson, is being released, featuring the whole of 15 brand new tracks. "We feel that on this album we've blended many of our influences and styles together, whilst still retaining that Gimp Fist feel", says singer & guitarist Jonny. From tackling the current economic situation and the struggles of the working class in songs like 'Give Me A Reason' to the angst-filled, early-Rancid-esque tirades against fascists and tyrants in 'Waiting For The Punchline'. With a mix of street punk, ska and dirty reggae, 'Take The Power Back' will surely strike a chord with both old and new fans.
