Behind Mine’s Road is the North German musician Michael Nermerich, who has been a constant presence on the music scene since the 1990s. As a keyboardist, songwriter and producer, he has explored a variety of genres and band projects over the decades – experiences that now come together in his distinctive solo sound.
With the formation of Mine’s Road in 2020, Nermerich deliberately shifted his focus to a personal, independent project. Here, he blends influences from rock, pop, progressive rock and alternative into a modern, multi-layered soundscape.
His music thrives on dramatic mood shifts, intricate arrangements and a distinct atmosphere that allows the listener to immerse themselves deeply in the songs. A key turning point was the decision to step into the spotlight as lead singer for the first time. This new role lends the songs additional authenticity and makes Mine’s Road a particularly personal expression of his artistic vision.
With his debut album “Icarus”, Nermerich makes a clear statement. The album brings together different facets of his work, ranging from catchy song structures to epic compositions. At its heart lies the eponymous, approximately 13-minute title track – an intense, extended piece about intoxication, a crash and self-realisation, which stands out for its dynamism and narrative depth. The album is accompanied by lavishly produced music videos for every single song, which underscore the project’s audiovisual ambition.
