THRASH ATTACK (4LP + CD BOX SET)

After the heyday of the late 1980s, things went quiet for the thrash metal genre, which was once pioneered by bands such as Metallica, Exodus and Legacy (Testament) in the USA, followed by Sodom, Kreator and Destruction in Germany. It wasn't until the 2000s that bands re-emerged who embraced this style, which roughly lies between speed metal and death metal. Today, thrash is probably bigger than ever before, thanks to many acts from the 1980s who are still active and a new generation of young musicians. 

This vinyl box set contains four albums that are different but all belong to the same genre. First and foremost is RAGING VIOLENCE from the USA. This is the original line-up of HIRAX, but with singer Rob Perkins. New songs and re-recordings (including the rare demo track 'Born In The Streets') thrilled fans and critics alike. EXCESS from Germany was a death-thrash band that never made it to an album. After three demos, however, they also branched out in successful directions: Crematory, Mystic Circle and Blood. There was no more time for EXCESS... The demo recordings were restored and remastered and released by Golden Core/ZYX for the first time on LP and CD. On the tape 'Crucifixion' you can hear drummer Neudi (Manilla Road, Trance, Savage Grace, etc.).

In 1988, SCARECROW released 'Condemned To Be Doomed', a now rare self-pressed album that is probably one of the most unusual German thrash albums ever made. Here, punk attitude meets progressive elements, while the basis is flawless thrash. No other album sounds like this extraordinary work by the German band. From Brazil come (or came, as they are sometimes active, sometimes not...) POSSUIDO PELO CAO, who offer crossover thrash influenced by D.R.I. and Suicidal Tendencies. With their fast, short tracks, no eye remains dry... and no neck is spared. This hearty work from 2008 was only released on CD at the time.
